Glasgow Rangers could sign 3mbet Jason Cummings on a permanent basis after he moved to Ibrox on loan in January.

When Rangers announced on their official website during the January transfer window that they had signed Jason Cummings on loan with the option to buy, most Gers fans would have been forgiven for assuming that it was inevitable that the 22-year-old would move to Ibrox on a permanent basis in the near future.

Cummings was superb during his time with Hibernian and was not exactly given enough of a chance at Nottingham Forest to prove that he could make the grade at the City Ground.

Nearly three months since his move however, and it is arguably much less certain that Rangers will pay the £1 million the Daily Record reports it will cost to sign the striker permanently.

Cummings has scored once in the Scottish Premiership - he has started on just two occasions - and it seemed that Graeme Murty dealt a further blow to his hopes with his team selection at the weekend.

Cummings was left on the bench for the entire game against Dundee as Kenny Miller was given a chance to lineup in the same team as Alfredo Morelos. And Miller justified his selection by scoring in the 4-0 win that gives the Gers some much-needed momentum heading into Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final.

Unless there are any injuries in the build up to the game, it seems highly unlikely that Cummings will start and it appears that the veteran Miller is now ahead of him in the pecking order for the time-being.

With a huge amount of uncertainty surrounding Rangers ahead of this summer, Cummings spending the final weeks of the season largely on the sidelines does not necessarily mean that his chances of earning a permanent move are over.

It would be a surprise if Murty remained in charge next season, while Miller's contract expires in the summer and there is no guarantee that he will be offered fresh terms, or have anything more 3mbet than a peripheral role if he does stick around.

Nevertheless, while deciding Cummings' future may not come down to Murty, and Rangers' need for strikers may increase this summer, missing out on the chance to impress over the coming weeks will do his situation no favours at all.

The semi-final, in particular, provides the kind of stage that could allow to become a hero. Unfortunately for Cummings, the team selection against Dundee has seemingly reduced his chances of being that hero and doing something that leaves Rangers in no doubt over 3mbet what they must do regarding his future.
